What do I have to do to reserve my wedding
date?
Contact me, sign the
contract we agree upon, and pay a $700 retainer.
What is your primary
style of wedding photography?
I usually
employ a documentary approach; that is, I capture events as they
happen. I also do a lot of subtle posing and prompting that looks natural and "unposed".
This approach allows the "true you" to show through in your pictures.
(Yes, I do the posed picture of your family or wedding
party too!)
Do you shoot digital or film?
I shoot digital 100%.
Is there a limit to the number of pictures
you take during a wedding?
No. I average about 100
pictures per hour and then include about 80% of those on the DVD you get
of your images. Why only 80%? Inevitably there will be repeated images,
"blink shots", a random picture of someone's shoe, and pictures that
don't meet my expectations...those get deleted.
Do you offer black &
white and sepia prints?
Yes! Because I shoot
100% digital, you don't have to choose between color and b&w. Digital
technology allows for all sorts of interesting color options and we
enjoy that creative aspect of photography.
Who will be the actual
photographer on my wedding day?
Me. I am not a wedding
photography mill hiring numerous photographers to work for me. That's
not my style or business model.
We'd like to have two photographers
covering our wedding, do you have another photographer that you work with?
Normally, there is
myself
and an assistant (my wife) who also takes pictures. I also know photographers that can be hired
to provide more coverage (assuming availability). Contact me if you're interested in having a
second photographer for an additional fee.
How much input do I have
in how you photograph my wedding?
There is always a
balance to be struck between what you want and my experience. Of course I am
always interested in hearing what you want from your photographer and
openly welcome your input. I want to make sure your photography desires
are a good match for my style of shooting. We will discuss what you want and
use my
professional insight to see what will work best given the time of day,
venue, styles, time allowed, etc.
Do you provide the digital files to the
bride & groom?
Yes. However, because
photo labs use different equipment and color profiles and the quality of
labs varies greatly, I cannot guarantee the quality of
prints made by labs other than my chosen lab. The images
provided on DVD are adjusted for color and exposure only; images are not
retouched or cropped like the prints I offer.
Do you book more than one wedding on the
same day?
No. I work too hard
with one wedding, there's no way I'd be able to do two!
The venue of my
wedding/reception requires that the photographer have liability insurance.
Do you have such insurance?
Yes, I carry a $1
million liability insurance policy; it's the only smart way to operate.
Do you have backup
equipment?
Absolutely, I wouldn't
do it any other way! I always
have three camera bodies and multiple lenses, flashes, memory cards,
batteries,
etc. in case of failure.
